I am FIRED UP to tell you about one of the craziest, most unique baits I’ve ever had in my hands. It’s brand new from Berkley, part of the Maxscent lineup, and it’s called the Berkley PowerBait Maxscent Flux Gill Creature Bait. And listen, when I say this thing is different, I mean really different. This isn’t just another worm or swimbait. This thing is like a science experiment mixed with a panfish!

Let’s start with what makes it so special: the shape.
Most of the MaxScent baits we’re all used to, Flat Worm, Hit Worm, The General, are long and skinny. They’re killer when fish are feeding on minnows or shad. The Flux Gill? This thing is a little MEATBALL. It’s got a wide, flat body that looks exactly like a bluegill, pinfish, sunfish, crappie, rock bass, whatever panfish lives in your lake. That big silhouette makes it perfect anytime bass are feeding on wider-bodied forage. If you’ve ever seen a bass inhale a bedding bluegill, you know exactly the kind of reaction bite I’m talking about!
And don’t forget, it’s still Maxscent! So you’re getting that legendary smell, taste, and drawing power. That wet, juicy texture that fish just won’t let go of. It’s like fish crack!
The Honeycomb Body — This Is Where Things Get Wild
Now check this out. The entire body of the Berkley PowerBait Maxscent Flux Gill is covered in these honeycomb-style holes, but they aren’t just poked into the plastic, they’re punched all the way through, except for a solid vein that runs right down the middle.
Why does that matter? Three HUGE reasons:
- More Flex = More Action. With less plastic in the body, the bait undulates and waves in the water like Jell-O on a trampoline.
- The Holes Trap Air. When you cast it out, little bubbles get stuck in those pockets. When it hits bottom, they start fizzing out like an Alka-Seltzer table for instant attraction!
- More Holes = More Scent Release. MaxScent is already powerful, but now you’ve got dozens of “escape hatches” pushing even more scent into the water. It’s like sending up a bass dinner smoke signal!
And if you’re wondering, “Mike, won’t those holes mess up how you rig it?” NOPE! That solid vein down the middle means you can rig it just like any other soft plastic.
The Action — Glide, Flex, and Tail Flicks All at Once
Now this is where the Flux Gill becomes a triple-threat. It’s wide and flat, so on the fall, it glides sideways like a dying bluegill. Then, those honeycomb cavities let the whole body flex and wiggle with the slightest movement. And then — BOOM — the pin tail kicks into gear and starts dancing like it’s alive!
Glide… flex… tail shake… all happening at the same time. It’s like three baits in one.
Rig It HOWEVER You Want — But Here Are My Top 3 Ways
You can fish this thing a million different ways, Texas rig, Carolina rig, drop shot, Neko, jig trailer, Tokyo rig, whatever! But here are my absolute TOP THREE ways to fish it:
1. On a Wobble Head (Biffle Head) – My #1 Favorite

I’m telling you right now, this bait was born for a wobble or Berkley Fusion19 Swing Jig Head. Texas rig it flat, slow-roll it across the bottom, and let that head grind while the Flux Gill goes absolutely nuts behind it. The wobble head gives it freedom to swing, and those holes make it flex and float. Bass CRUSH it.
2. On a Free Rig
If you’ve never fished a free rig, start now. The weight falls first, the bait glides behind it like a stunned panfish, and then when you pull it and the bait meets the weight — BOOM — it jumps up and flops back down. That pop-and-drop action is deadly.
3. As a Trailer on a ChatterBait or Skirted Jig
But here’s the trick, you have to rig it SIDEWAYS on a vibrating jig. I’m serious! It turns your chatterbait into a fat-bodied bluegill imitator with a tail that never stops shaking. On a swim jig, rig it sideways. On a flipping jig, lay it flat. Either way it totally changes the profile and gives it glide and kick.
Final Thoughts
The Berkley PowerBait Maxscent Flux Gill comes in two sizes, 3.5 and 5.3 inches. Fourteen awesome colors. Insane profile. Insane action. And MaxScent flavor.
Guys… I’m telling you, this bait is going to catch GIANTS.
